Now available from Pirate Brand®, abrasive umbrella kits for portable blasters! Until now, the only way to get an abrasive umbrella was to purchase one of our stationary blast pots, but with these new kits, portable blasters can have protection from overhead abrasive feeding systems.
Why Are They Important:
When feeding your blast pot from an overhead hopper, extra weight is constantly sitting on the pop-up. This leads to abrasive becoming embedded into the pop-up and o-ring to the point they can’t seal properly. When this happens, air will leak around the pop-up and their will be an imbalance in pressure above and below the metering valve (a.k.a. differential pressure). When this happens, the pop-up and metering valve are quickly destroyed.
How They Work:
Abrasive umbrellas are installed over the pop-up and keep the weight of the overhead media from sitting directly on the pop-up and interfering with its operation.
CENTERING ARMS MAY BE TRIMMED TO ACCOMMODATE SMALLER DIAMETER VESSELS.
TRIMMING OF THE CENTERING ARMS MAY BE REQUIRED TO ACHIEVE A PROPER FIT FOR SOME PRESSURE VESSELS. TRIM THE CENTERING ARMS SO THAT THE UMBRELLA IS CENTERED OVER THE POP-UP OPENING.
